Titan Management speaks one-on-one with Catherine Cox - NSW Swifts
Titan Management client and NSW Swifts captain, Catherine Cox, shares her thoughts on Sydney Olympic Park and the 2009 ANZ Championship season:
Why do you enjoy playing netball in Olympic Park? Aside from watching us there's so much to do. Supporters can come in earlier and get a bite to eat at any one of the restaurants, have a drink at the Brewery or just come into either of the great stadiums we play in and take in the atmosphere. What is your fondest memory of playing at the Sports Centre? It'd have to be winning the grand final in 2007 after going through the season undefeated. It was a sell out and our crowd was amazing. What can the Swifts fans expect this season? I would love to go back to back with the Swifts. Our fans definitely deserve that as they are the best in the country. What are your goals for the 2009 season? To continue to lift throughout the season and be as ready for each game as we possible can be. In the past I don't think we've done as much 'homework' as we maybe could have. How would you describe the Swifts supporters at your home games? Loud but fair. I think they just really love a great game of netball and will always cheer for good play, even if it's not from us. They're brilliant.
Titan Management, conveniently located in the Park, currently represents over 300 clients across 9 different sports. As one of the largest sports management companies in Australia they are perfectly positioned to assist you with your marketing and endorsement needs.
Our athletes are available for the following corporate services: • Product Endorsements & Sponsorships • Appearances at corporate events and functions • Speaking Engagements • Ground & Venue Signage
Scouts on Show
On Saturday April 18, at the second annual Scout Day at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, dozens of scouts, leaders, parents and employed staff of Scouts Australia NSW combined to stage a memorable activities day for hundreds of Members of the Organisation and their families. Just as important were the1500 members of the general public also who took part in activities and learned more about Scouting.
Activities on the day included The Tower of Power, a climbing wall, the very challenging ‘Rock n Roll Golf’, an obstacle course, Bottle Toss Golf, the extremely popular Bottle Bazookas and Air Brush Tattoos. And of course, who could forget the ever-entertaining Clown Sponge Throw? Certainly not those who had the sponges thrown at them!
This was a wonderful opportunity for members of the public to see the simplicity and safety with which Scouts complete tasks – not to mention the creativity and resourcefulness and the resulting fun.
Scouts and staff "worked the crowd" informing families of the activities and offering Fun Activities for Kids Passports which were stamped upon completion of each activity and a reward given for completing the tasks.
At 1pm, a selection of Scout Groups took part in the daily Street Parade which worked its way from the Overflow, through the crowded Showto the Showground Arena.

Daniel Kowalski back in the fast lane for the World Masters Games
Olympic swimming champion Daniel Kowalski is getting back in the fast lane for the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games, with his preparations including the 2009 AUSSI Masters National Swimming Championships that start in Brisbane tomorrow.
Games Ambassador Mr Kowalski, who won gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics as a member of Australia’s triumphant men’s 4x200 freestyle relay squad, is entered in four individual events – 50 metres backstroke, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle – at the national championships at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
Mr Kowalski, who became the first swimmer in 92 years to win medals in the 200m, 400m and 1,500m at the same Olympics when he achieved the feat in Atlanta in 1996, is documenting his preparations for the world’s largest multi-sport event through a blog called Back In The Fast Lane on the official Games website.
“I can’t wait for October to roll around and to have the opportunity to compete in the same pool in which I won an Olympic gold medal. The Games are a truly wonderful event, one of which I’m proud to an ambassador,” Mr Kowalski said.
To enter the Games people need only meet their sport’s minimum age, which ranges between 25 and 35 years. Swimming is one of the sport’s open to people as young as 25 and the majority of the Games sports are open to people aged 30 plus.
Mr Kowalski is just one of many Games Ambassadors, with others including fellow Olympic champions Lord Sebastian Coe, Murray Rose and Simon Fairweather.
Mark Geyer to play touch football
Former Australia and New South Wales rugby league forward Mark Geyer was also recently announced as an ambassador for the world’s largest multi-sport in October this year.
A member of the 1991 Penrith Panthers team that won the club’s first rugby league premiership, Mr Geyer also made three appearances for the Kangaroos and three appearances for the Blues in a memorable career that ran from 1986 to 2000.
The Games will see Mark Geyer, known in rugby league circles as 'MG' forming a team to participate in the touch football competition.
“Touch football is a limited-contact sport so there’ll be no repeat of my stoush with Wally Lewis at the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games,” said Mr Geyer, whose face off with the Queensland captain was one of State of Origin’s iconic moments.
“Seriously, though, the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games promise to be terrific, especially for the city’s western suburbs. I can’t wait for them to get under way.”
To enter the Games people need only meet their sport’s minimum age, which ranges between 25 and 35 years. Touch football is open to people aged 30 plus, something that applies to the majority of the 28 sports competitions on the Games program.
The Games touch football competition, which is open to mens, womens and mixed teams, will take place at two venues in the Sydney suburb of St Marys – the Kingsway Playing Fields and St Marys Leagues Club – from 12-15 October.
