From the CEO's Desk

It's our 10th Anniversary!

Welcome to the new look 'Business Association' (not 'SOPBA) branding. To celebrate 10 years since the formation of the Sydney Olympic Park Business Association in May 2000, we've had a non-surgical facelift.

Inaugural Food and Beverage Guide

The first brochure showcasing the new look is the inaurugal 'Food and Beverage Guide' for the Park (pictured) which was funded by the retail Members of the Business Association.

Thanks to the support of these Members, we now have the first dedicated food and beverage brochure to distribute throughout the Park to employees, visitors to the Park and Business clients. A PDF of the brochure is attached, but please contact the Business Association office if you would like copies for your staff room and/or clients.

Bulldogs playmaker Brett Kimmorley was recently announced as an official Ambassador for ANZ Stadium’s upcoming production of BEN HUR – THE STADIUM SPECTACULAR.

Kimmorley’s involvement follows the news 2GB broadcaster Alan Jones, AO, has been appointed as head ambassador of the once-in-a-lifetime event.

An NRL stalwart and renowned family man, Kimmorley said it was a pleasure to be associated with such a highly anticipated production.
“I’ve seen the DVD of one of the BEN HUR performances in Paris and it was truly amazing and I am more than happy to show my support for what is sure to be a huge event at ANZ Stadium in October,” he said.

“The set, the story, the action and the drama - it all looks incredible. I think this will be great family entertainment and I’m really looking forward to bringing my wife and children along to a transformed ANZ Stadium later in the year.”

BEN HUR – THE STADIUM SPECTACULAR was launched in grand style at Sydney Town Hall last month, complete with Roman legionnaires and trumpet fanfare.

Australian Steelers are 2010 Four Nations Champions

Australian Steelers captain Ryan Scott lifted the International Wheelchair Rugby Four Nations trophy in triumph after his team defeated Canada 57-52 in yesterday's  final at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.

Ryley Batt again led the scoring for the Australians with 44 goals, while Cameron Carr (seven goals), Steve Porter (five goals), and Andrew Harrison (one goal) also crossed the line.

Batt, voted the tournament’s most valuable player, was at his devastating best at both ends of the floor. Not only did he contribute 44 goals, he was equally destructive in defence and twice left Canadian attacking star Fabien Lavoie needing assistance after bone-crunching hits.

The 20-year-old from Port Macquarie, who returned only last week from playing in the US National League with the San Diego Sharp, said he would now take the opportunity for a well-earned rest.

“We played our hearts out every minute of every game this week. It’s been a great week for us,” Batt said.

The Bronze medal went to New Zealand after they defeated Great Britain 53-52 in nail-biting double overtime.

More information about the game is available on the home page of the Business Associatin website - www.sopba.com.au.
