SOPBA NEW FACES

Kel O'Connor - Portfolio Manager - Office Sector One- Direct Property Investment Fund

Kel O' Connor's role encompasses the full range of asset management functions including portfolio strategy and implementation, overseeing of portfolio modelling and analysis as well as management of property managers to maximise financial and physical outcomes for the portfolio.

Kel commenced with Colonial First State Property in August 2000. He has over 30 years extensive experience with both Australian and international funds management organisations and financial institutions as well as agency experience.


Ticketek

Geoff Jones- Chief Executive Officer

Geoff Jones was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ticketek in June 2007. He also joins the SOPBA Board from 1 July this year.

Prior to joining Ticketek, Geoff held a number of Senior Executive positions at the Foster's Group.

During his four years at Foster's he was General Manager Queensland, Sales and Marketing Director CUB and Sales Director Foster's Australia.

Geoff managed the integration of the CUB, Beringer Blass Wine Estates and Southcorp Wines sales force after the acquisition of Southcorp. His last role was Director of Sales Australia Asia-Pacific.

Geoff has had an extensive background in live sport and entertainment having spent six years at IMG in roles that included CEO Gold Coast Indy, Director of Motorsport - Asia and General Manager Queensland.

Prior to IMG, Geoff was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and held a range of management appointments in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

THE NEW 'WHO'S WHO' AT SOPA

SOPBA welcomes new SOPA Chairman

The Hon Michael Knight A.O., has been appointed as the Authority's new Chairman, effective 1 July 2007, replacing David Richmond.

As well as being Minister for the Olympics, Mr Knight was President of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG) and, under his leadership, the Sydney 2000 Games were acknowledged as 'the best Games ever' In addition to the Olympics portfolio, Mr Knight was, for a number of years following 1995, Minister for Public Works and Services and Minister for Roads.

Since resigning from politics in 2000, Michael has undertaken high-level consultancy work in the infrastructure, property and energy industries and was an adviser to the Greek Government and Athens Organising Committee on their 2004 Olympic Games.

Mr Knight brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to SOPA by virtue of his outstanding leadership record and I welcome his involvement in leading the Board and SOPA through the next stage of the Park's growth. Like Mr Richmond, Mr Knight has a long-standing relationship with the site, which will ensure that Sydney Olympic Park continues to grow in the spirit for which it was originally created.


Brian Newman -Chief Executive Officer

Brian Newman continues in his role as Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

Mr Newman is a senior corporate executive with over 20 years international experience in large-scale urban development having led corporations and semi-government entities in Australia, South-East Asia and the Middle East.

Brian specialises is in the field of 'place-making' and the economic, social, environmental and cultural strategies required to achieve sustainable urban development solutions.

Mr Newman assumed his current position at Sydney Olympic Park in 2002 and has since been responsible for defining a new vision for the precinct, growing visitation to the Park, developing brand awareness and defining an economic model for the Park's future growth as a new urban centre within metropolitan Sydney.

Mr Newman is also a Board Member of the Sydney Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sports Knowledge Australia , the Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board and SOPBA .


David Young - General Manager of Operations & Sustainability

David Young is the General Manager of Operations ans Sustainability.

He has executive coverage of SOPA's day to day place management and place making activities - including the staging major events; managing it's assets; presenting the site; providing visitor services; controlling development; and delivering major projects.

Prior to joining the former Olympic Coordination Authority (OCA) as Director of Estate Management in 1999.

David completed more than 15 years service in various executive and senior management positions with leading Local Government agencies in both Victoria and New South Wales. With OCA David's role involved operational and asset management control of the Olympic Estate in Western Sydney - including four satellite games venues in addition to Sydney Olympic Park. During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, David led the 'Site Management' group for Sydney Olympic Park.

David has tertiary qualifications in Horticultural Science; Environmental Science; and Business Management.

He was awarded the Olympic Certificate of Merit from the IOC in recognition of services rendered to the Olympic Movement for the Games of the XXVII Olympiad in Sydney; he completed the NSW Government Executive Development Program in 2001; and has recently completed the Executive Certificate in Major Event Management at the Australian Government's Centre of Excellence in Sports Science & Management.

David is a non-executive Director of Parks Forum Ltd - the peak New Zealand & Australian parks industry body; and is a current member of the Asia Pacific Venue Management Association, the International Federation of Parks & Recreation Administrators, and the Australian Institute of Public Administration.


Nick Hubble - General Manager, Commercial & Corporate

Nick Hubble is General Manager, Commercial & Corporate with Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

Nick is responsible for managing government's interests in all venues at Sydney Olympic Park and all property management and development activities. He holds the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer and has responsibility for SOPA's corporate services.

Mr Hubble previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and has experience with PriceWaterhouse as a Senior Accountant.

Nick has also held the position of Company Secretary of the Australian Technology Park Precinct Management Limited and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. He is currently a Trust Member of the State Sports Centre Trust.


Mark Rosenberg -General Manager, Marketing, Sales & Communications

Mark Rosenberg is General Manager, Marketing, Sales & Communications for the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

Prior to his current role he worked at Caltex Australia, holding a variety of senior management positions including National Brand Marketing Manager, National Franchise Manager and Corporate Solicitor.

Mark grew up in Sydney, attending Sydney Boys High and the University of NSW, where he graduated with a combined Arts & Law degree. He also received a Blue in Athletics from UNSW.

Mark's interest in athletics saw him represent Australia in the 200m & 400m at the World University Games in Kobe, Japan in 1985 and he represented Oceania in the 4X400m relay at the World Cup of Athletics in Barcelona, Spain in 1989.

Mark subsequently completed a Masters of Law at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and a Masters of Management from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

He is on the Boards of Athletics NSW and the Sydney Olympic Park Business Association.

Mark is married and with 4 children.

Manager - Lifestyle appointed

Petina Seymour is well placed to run Lifestyle at Sydney Olympic Park as her own lifestyle involves the Park.

Petina currently works and lives at The Waterfront , having previously lived in neighbouring Newington.

Her strong local knowledge is backed up by a solid business background in graphic design, print, hospitality and event management.

As the Co-founder and Co-ordinator of WISEAM (Women in Self Employment & Management) networking group and the inaugural President of The Waterfront Business Network with over 100 members she is also used to start up roles.

Strong business contacts have been forged through The Waterfront Business Network and as a Business Member of Parramatta Chamber of Commerce.

Petina is currently consulting with Barbara Perry MP on a local Transport survey and was recently nominated for Community Spirit Award 07-Women With Altitude.

That's a snapshot of the Manager-Lifestyle who you will get a chance to meet shortly after she starts on 2 July. Initially she will be based in the SOPA offices with a proposed move to the Visitors Centre which 'Lifestyle' will ultimately call 'home.'

Scouts Australia Fundraiser

SOPBA likes to support its members, especially when the cause will benefit young people throughout NSW.

On Friday, 20 July at The Westin, No 1 Martin Place, a luncheon titled, "The Great Game- Which Code Rules and Why.'" with Peter Holmes a Court, Luke Richetson, Wendall Sailor, Craig Foster and Wayne Schwass will debate the issue.
